Due to the current COVID crisis, while social distancing measures are in place, we are inviting families to engage with our Family Worship, a weekly collection of songs, videos, and more to help our children grow in godliness.
Acolytes are an important part of our worship service, but are currently on hiatus.
We believe it very important for our young people to be active leaders in our worship service at San Pedro Presbyterian, and the Acolyte Ministry does exactly that! It is an important stepping stone for children to become regular and active participants on Sunday mornings and to learn more about the church.
What is an Acolyte?
Acolytes serve the church by lighting and extinguishing the candles in the Sanctuary for the worship service. The light, or flame, represents the light of Christ. When you bring the light into the place where people are gathering to worship, and when you light the candles, you are reminding the people that God is with us in worship. At the end of each worship service, the acolytes take the light of Christ out into the world.
Interested in Being an Acolyte?
A joint ministry of the Children’s and Worship ministries, children 3rd – 8th grade are invited to serve as an Acolyte. Acolytes must complete a training course that explains the significance of acolyting and important safety procedures.
